Nargis Karimova is Landesa’s Project Manager, Global Programs based in Seattle, Washington. Nargis began working for Landesa in 2022.
What brought you to Landesa?
The possibility of working in a project management role in an organization that is dedicated to international development, securing land rights, and lifting people out of poverty.
What inspires your work?
My inspiration comes from the understanding that the work we do at Landesa improves somebody’s life. I grew up and worked in Tajikistan, a country where many people live in rural areas and rely on land for their livelihood. Traveling in the country for work gave me a chance to see how hard it can be to live and maintain a family in the countryside. Landesa is focused on securing land rights and breaking the cycle of poverty which can change people’s lives for the better and that’s the motivation behind my work.
What work at Landesa makes you particularly proud?
There are many great initiatives that brilliant Landesa staff and committed partners accomplish every year. I feel proud to read about the achievements in Landesa’s annual reports and it feels so good to understand that I am part of that amazing organization.
How do you spend your time when you’re not working?
When not working, I like exploring new parks and hiking locations with my family. Thankfully, Washington State offers plenty of places to enjoy the beautiful nature.
Describe your vision for a better world.
A world free from hunger, poverty, corruption, and wars where everybody has an opportunity to learn and grow to their full potential.
