Laura Eshbach is Landesa’s Program Director, Corporate Engagement based in Seattle, Washington. Laura began working for Landesa in 2012.
What brought you to Landesa?
High-level: The opportunity to use my law degree to contribute to human rights and social justice and to learn more about the world. More practically: Our founder, Roy Prosterman, was my professor at the University of Washington School of Law and sparked an interest in and realization that land rights are a foundation for equity and inclusion.
What inspires your work?
The amazing people I’ve been able to work with toward a shared mission, including my Landesa colleagues, partner organizations and government officials working in communities’ interests, community members working to claim and enforce their rights, and partner company personnel working to change the way business is done.
What work at Landesa makes you particularly proud?
I’ve been able to contribute to a broad variety of work while at Landesa, but I am most proud of seizing opportunities that allow for or facilitate two-way learning.
Describe your vision for a better world.
A place where people work together toward shared interests but not at the expense of others.
