Jen Brown is Landesa’s Sr. Land Tenure Specialist based in Seattle, Washington. Jen started working for Landesa in 1998 and re-joined our team in 2018.
What brought you to Landesa?
As a law student, with an undergrad degree in economics and a strong interest in international issues, I was quickly drawn in by the use of law and policy to secure land rights for economic empowerment.
What inspires your work?
Women I’ve interviewed in rural areas who have bravely ignored or challenged social norms to live their vision of a full life, women who lead NGOs that lift up other women, and girls and boys around the world.
What work at Landesa makes you particularly proud?
The dedicated work of my colleagues and partners in India and Bangladesh to hear, encourage, support, and be allies and advocates for women and men in their countries.
How do you spend your time when you’re not working?
Reading sci-fi, cycling, and driving my two teenagers to extracurricular activities.
