Building a Global Network of Women's Land Rights Experts
The Landesa Center for Women's Land Rights (LCWLR) is pleased to announce the launch of this year's Women's Land Rights Visiting Professionals Program. The program seeks to cultivate a network of leaders committed to furthering women's land rights in their own countries and across the globe. This year we have nine visiting professionals from China, India, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. These women and men hold positions ranging from government officials to grassroots community organizers to large-scale NGO leaders. The program includes a six-week intensive training course in Seattle from September 8 through October 17, followed by continued mentorship and collaboration. The program is supported by the Ford Foundation and the visiting professionals from China are sponsored by the River Star Foundation. Learn more about the program >>

LCWLR Partners with the Millennium Challenge Corporation
In this new report, the Landesa Center for Women's Land Rights examines four Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) projects in Benin, Lesotho, Mali, and Namibia to understand how each project applied gender to its design and implementation as well as how that approach impacted results.
This report, which was completed at the request of MCC, aims to help practitioners understand what concrete steps might be taken towards closing the gender gap in land projects. |

FOLA is an on-line educational resource about land rights and development in Africa. Highlights of new and noteworthy content from FOLA this month include:

Trust Women Conference Features Landesa and Land Rights
Landesa is partnering with the Thomson Reuters Foundation for their Trust Women conference, focused this year on women's land rights among other issues.
Landesa's support of the conference presents an opportunity to further elevate the issue of women's land rights as a way for governments, businesses, and the social sector to reduce poverty and hunger and empower women worldwide. The conference is scheduled for November 17-19 in London.
