The report by Landesa (then called the Rural Development Institute) analyzes current prospects for land privatization and development of land markets in the urban and rural sectors of Moldova, and provides recommendations for enhancing such prospects.Sources of information include: (1) review of Moldovan laws and regulations, (2) conversations with Parliamentarians and officials in the Ministry of Privatization, the Ministry of Agriculture, the President’s office and other government institutions, (3) interviews of collective farm leaders and peasant farmers in seven raions (administrative units) in the central, northern and southern regions, (4) interviews with raion and village officials, and (5) conversations with representatives of foreign assistance organizations maintaining permanent offices in Chisinau. | Download PDF
