Landesa Founder Roy Prosterman Earns Inaugural Global Hero Award
OCTOBER 6, 2011 — Global Washington honors Professor Roy Prosterman as the inaugural recipient of the Global Hero Award for his lifetime of service on behalf of poor families across the world.
The first annual Global Hero Award honors an outstanding leader from the state of Washington who has contributed significantly to global issues and made a great impact in the world.
The award ceremony will take place on November 1st, Global Action Day, at the Global Washington Annual Conference.
Along with the Global Washington community, Landesa celebrates this distinguished honor for our esteemed founder and chairman emeritus. Prosterman is an innovative strategist and legal practitioner, working in partnership with more than 40 governments to make sure the world’s poorest families have legal control over the land they farm. Today, more than 100 million families around the world have secure land rights, thanks in part to Prosterman’s original vision and more than four decades of dedicated field work.
