Landesa receives historic gift from MacKenzie Scott

We are humbled to announce that Landesa has received a $20 million gift from author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, which will enable us to scale our work accelerating gender equality and climate action through secure rights to land.

This unrestricted gift will help Landesa continue and build upon our efforts to strengthen gender-equal land rights through law and policy work, implementation, and capacity building for government partners, civil society organizations, and rural and Indigenous communities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

2022 GALA

Seed the Change raises over $300k

We are extraordinarily appreciative to all those who joined us at Seed the Change this year! Our annual gala featured a celebration of the power of secure land rights, the presentation of the Prosterman Award to the late Dr. Tajamul Haque, and highlights from different Landesa projects around the globe. Thanks to the enormous generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise over $300,000 from our in-person and virtual events.

Activating grassroots leaders to Stand for Her Land

In February, Stand for Her Land campaign members embarked on a monthlong Africa launch tour through Senegal and Uganda, culminating in a regional launch event in Nairobi, Kenya on International Women’s Day.

Stand for Her Land members visited communities, met with government and civil society partners, and participated in strategy workshops to support the country coalitions. Coalitions comprise local grassroots organizations, national civil society organizations, and other non-state actors working towards the shared goal of stronger women’s land rights.

Stand for Her Land supports these groups by building a mechanism for coordination and additional resources so their work can have even greater impact. Already, nearly 100 groups worldwide are mobilizing to Stand for Her Land!
